Dixon Europe are pleased to be launching a new product, the Dixon Hygienic Breakaway Check Valve, which is proving to be ‘the right connection’, potentially saving companies thousands. At a recent trade show, an engineer from a well-known UK dairy company explained how a milk tanker had driven away from the loading bay before disconnecting the delivery hose costing thousands in replacement piping and install cost. Dixon’s Hygienic Breakaway coupling is a solution this problem. In such instance the coupling will break in two, separating the tanker from the loading bay. The 13kN break load bolts are the only items that will need replacing. The new Dixon Breakaway Check Valve is an innovative solution that is designed to eliminate product loss too. It incorporates the Breakaway Coupling and a Hygienic Check Valve. It acts as a single unit that has a diverted breaking point which will break at a determined break-load. Then the check valve will close protecting the loading bay pipe system AND avoiding product spillage. Designed with hygienic processing in mind, you can be assured that the breakaway conforms to FDA standards and is CIP capable; but, without the intricate workings and associated cost of similar products on the market

Hygienic Offer

Over the last 30 years Dixon has significantly extended its range of Valves, Fittings and Couplings for the Hygienic / Purity markets through product development and acquisition. Dixon offers local stocking for a full range of stainless steel hygienic fittings, BPE Biopharm fittings and valves for use in the food, dairy, beverage, brewery, cosmetic, chemical and pharmaceutical industries. Here in the UK, Dixon offers, specialised support and bespoke engineered solutions from concept, to design, through to installation. Dixon’s onsite manufacturing and engineering department means that new designs, animations and 3D modelling can rapidly be produced to support customer’s requirements. Of particular note is Dixon’s range of high quality process valves which include ball, butterfly, diaphragm, seat, sample, and mix-proof valves which can be actuated to customer specifications and fitted with a range of stocked accessories that includes limit switches, solenoids and positioners. Included in Dixon’s in-house capabilities are full hygienic fabrications. This is thanks to 9 welding bays, CNC machining, and polishing to 0.4Ra microns. Further specials such as electro-polishing and exotic material products such as Hastelloy are available from the US in very short lead times.  This means that whatever hygienic special you require and whatever industry you serve to, Dixon can help. Also part of our in-house production, are custom hose assemblies for the hygienic market. Everything from bulk delivery hoses to process special assemblies are assembled and shipped within the same day. Our range includes but is not limited to San hygienic Rubber, Sansil Silicone, Metallic, PTFE lined, and general PVC suction and delivery hoses.  We can even help you with your wash down requirements of hoses and cleaning hand guns.

Dixon Launches New Frac Products

21 October 2016

Dixon is a market leading global hose and coupling manufacturer, providing hose and coupling solutions to all major industries. With our solutions based philosophy, Dixon has a global footprint around the world. Dixon has in the UK a full design, manufacturing and stocking facility to support the UK market. Locally here in Europe we have facilities in Germany, Russia, France and the Middle East.   Dixon Products are already being widely used in the American and Canadian fracking industry. In North America we currently have over 66,000 Dixon parts being used in low pressure fluid transfer systems within hydraulic fracturing applications, including hose fittings, flange adapters, split nuts, caps and plugs.   Dixon has developed a unique non-welded Intake Manifold used at these hydraulic fracturing sites. It has been designed for efficient fluid flows and reduction of pump cavitation caused by sand fall out. These products have proven performance and benefits to the operators. All Dixon “Frac” products have been designed and tested at a minimum 4:1 safety factor.   Dixon Europe are Pressure Equipment Directive accredited (PED97/25/EC) by Lloyds Register and certified to ISO 9001.   At Dixon Europe based in Preston, Lancashire, we specialise in the support of bespoke engineered solutions from concept to design to installation. Dixon’s onsite manufacturing and engineering department means that we can rapidly produce new designs, animations and provide 3D modelling to support our customers. We hold a large inventory of products and offer very short lead times for items that require manufacture or that are bespoke.

The Importance of Ensuring Correct Specification of Hose

21 October 2016

Industrial hose, in general, is capable of many uses. They convey air, steam, water, chemicals and an almost unlimited assortment of other products from A to B. Sometimes transported substances move under great pressure and travel great distances. When industrial hose and couplings are properly specified for a  the task, these assemblies perform their function flawlessly. However the potential hazards of hose assemblies are very real. When we try to get them to do things they were never designed to do, such as running steam through a chemical hose or using cam and groove couplings for air, they fail miserably with sometimes catastrophic results. To avoid potential harm to personnel, site and equipment; and to prevent product loss, Dixon stresses the importance of inspecting all hose assemblies prior to each use. Hose failures, damaged end fittings and correct hose specification are just a few of the factors an onsite maintenance engineer might have to address on a day to day basis.  Whether it’s the correct hose required or the right type of coupling for the application, it is often a minefield when it comes to finding a solutions provider with the correct experience you can trust. With a hose range which covers a broad spectrum of application and a team of experienced and technical sales personnel, Dixon can offer you a complete service advising on the most appropriate solutions for your application. The Dixon range of loose hose and hose assemblies is inclusive of composite, rubber, metallic, PTFE, food & beverage, large bore, anti static and spiral PVC and is complementary to their long established couplings sales. Dixon Group Europe are one of a handful of companies certified to the Pressure Equipment Directive 97/23/EC to manufacture flexible hose assemblies. With manufacturing and engineering facilities approved by BSI and which comply with the requirements of  ISO 9001 Dixon can design and produce individual customised products to find solutions to customer’s fluid & air handling problems. Dixon are acutely aware of the need for products to be consistently reliable and rigid enough to withstand the challenges of today’s tough environmental world. To this end Dixon are strongly committed to providing ‘the right connection’ in service, support and advice to ensure correct specification of their fully tested range of bespoke hose assemblies and couplings
